I just sent my email interview questions to Ayelet Waldman, and I feel so darn rusty at the whole thing. Years ago I started reading the Paris Review Interviews books, the Holy Grail of all interview sources. I studied up on great, off-beat questions, and used some of them in interviewing authors, but today I just fired off what Ayelet must be sick and tired of answering. But she’s been very gracious. I think she’ll reply. I hope she will …
Ayelet’s book Bad Mother: A Chronicle of Maternal Crimes, Minor Calamities and Occasional Moments of Grace is getting her some high-profile interviews lately. She’s been on the Today Show, CBS Sunday Morning, and more other venues than I could name. And then there’s me, the wee blogger of no account! How sweet she is to agree to answering my questions.
Now that I’ve stepped a toe back in author interviewing waters maybe I’ll feel a little better next time I do one. I’ve finished the spring semester of graduate school (YAY!), so I’ll have a little time to attend to writing/reviewing matters. I may take one course this semester, or I may not. I haven’t decided yet.
But I do feel great to have finished up what’s the toughest semester I’ve ever had, undergraduate or graduate.
Hope everyone’s doing well! Any news from anyone?
