Love the season or not so much? Are you sick of living with the cold, overcast days of winter? Do you yearn for the hot, sunny days of summer to brighten and warm your spirit? If so, know that you are not alone.
Is your tail wagging for a good run in the park, minus the ice and snowy obstacles? Are you seeking a branch on a green-leafed tree to nest and sing a beautiful springtime melody?
Maybe you can’t wait to crawl out of your hibernation space and munch away on fresh food again. Perhaps you’re ready to grab your brain bucket and lean into a curve?
If you’re anything like me, you’re drooling to bring out the summer clothes and shop for more. I can’t wait to shed the heaviness of winter coats, scarves, and gloves. I yearn to be free, to feel the soft embrace of Mother Nature’s refreshing breeze around me. Her winter wrap-arounds are way too heavy and harsh.
I question when the landscape of dead brush and grass and salt-stained streets will be transformed into luscious meadows and wildflower-lined roadways? I’m dreaming of the future, when fluttering butterflies replace flying snowflakes and heavy laden snow shovels are replaced by fishing poles and old men hanging out at the pond.
I’m lusting for freshly picked cherries packed into the best-ever pie crust, for hot pink nail polish on my toes to scream sexy, and to cheer on my favorite baseball team to victory.
But most of all, I’m waiting for Cupid, you know, the angel that comes to our planet to hunt in mid-February. She spikes the heart and soul of humankind. She instills a special spirit of love.
But what is “love” you ask? Nobody has yet to define it completely. I just know life feels empty without it. Love of self, love of others, love of nature, love of life itself; love is a most treasured emotion.
Sometimes, Cupid’s arrow goes astray and sometimes, Cupid’s arrow breaks. Love can hurt. In spite of the risk, I still welcome Cupid and her gift of love because with just one perfect hit, it can turn the emptiness of a forever winter into the everlasting pleasure of summer.
I’m ready…I’m willing…bring it on!!
